Year 5 at the Primary Engineer Regional Final

North East Regional Final

Children in Year 3 and Year 5 have been taking part in a Primary Engineering Programme this term. The aim of the programme is to encourage pupils to engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subjects and to become more aware of the importance of engineering in our everyday lives. The children had to design and create a moving vehicle using a variety of materials and resources. They then had to test and evaluate their finished product.

We were invited to attend the regional final at the Discovery Museum on 23rd May 2017. The teams that were chosen were able to meet real engineers and discuss their designs. They tested their models and competed against other schools from across the North East.

The children were a credit to our school and worked extremely hard. They all received a certificate to congratulate them on taking part!

We were delighted to discover that Aliya- Mai and Aimee had won the Apprentice Level 2 award. Well done girls!
