World Nursery Rhyme Week - 13th - 17th November 2017

Since starting Nursery the children have been learning lots of Nursery Rhymes to complete a Rhyme Challenge and this week we had great fun celebrating ‘World Nursery Rhyme Week’ as a culmination to our efforts. On Monday we learnt the rhyme Bobby Shafto Went to Sea using body percussion to accompany our singing. We brought in boats we made at home over the weekend. Some of us made boats at Nursery and then we all sailed them outside in the water tray. On Tuesday we learnt Lavenders Blue Dilly Dilly and used shakers to accompany our singing. We then looked at real lavender plants and made lavender bags to take home. On Wednesday we sang Hickory Dickory Dock, which we already knew and we made mouse masks to use in our play. Thursday was Wind a Bobbin, which again we already knew, but we practised winding our own bobbins using wool. On Friday we sang Old King Cole and had a ‘Celebration Event’ which we invited friends and relatives to watch. We performed on our outdoor stage in the Nursery garden and were FANTASTIC! We all got a certificate and a book for our efforts.

Have a look at us singing some nursery rhymes on the stage in our garden...
