British Science Week 2017 12th March - 16th March

The theme for this year's British Science Week is 'Change'. The aim is to encourage young people to think about and investigate the changes happening in the world all around us; from seasons and climate to materials and energy. It is also a chance for young people to consider the changes they can enact to have a positive impact upon science the future.

The whole school will be taking part in Science Week this year. Through out the week, the children will work in groups and carry out 'hands on' practical experiments. They will investigate changing colours, changing states and changing environments. All pupils will take part in a 'design a poster' competition and evidence of their hard work uploaded in order to achieve a special British Science Week 2017 digital badge.

In addition to this, all classes will be participating in the North East Leaders Award. The children will apply an engineer's eye to the world and identify problems in need of solving.

This award allows us to continue to participate in STEM (Science, Technology and Engineering & Mathematics) initiatives in school.
