Year 6 enjoyed a visit to Broomhouse Farm this week as part of their Geography topic, ‘Food and Farming.’ This is a working farm, so we got to learn about exactly what happens in terms of how the animals are bred, reared and butchered to provide the food for their farm shop and restaurant, as well as supplying local stores and bigger chains such as Marks and Spencers! It is a self-sufficient farm, meaning that they do everything themselves and don’t rely on anyone else to help them keep the farm going. We now have a much better understanding of how food gets from ‘farm to fork’ but as you can see, it wasn’t all work and no play-our afternoon included plenty of exercise and fresh air in the ‘Forest Adventure’ with our friends!
