On Thursday, Year 3 visited ISKCON Hindu temple in Newcastle to learn more about Hinduism. We were greeted with a very warm welcome by our host Kirtida who showed us around and gave us a very informative and interactive workshop. We had an introduction to Hinduism and its key teachings through games. We then listened to singing/music and there was an opportunity to dress up in traditional clothing and to play the instruments ourselves. We explored symbols and artefacts used by Hindus for festivals and worship. There were lots of opportunities for reflection and to explore this religion in more depth. Kirtida demonstrated a traditional puja ceremony with incense, water, lamp, flowers, and song. It was wonderful to visit a mandir and to experience this first hand. What a colourful and uplifting place!
