Last week was Bird Watch Week in Nursery. As part of our learning about Birds we decided to make some bird feeders to attract the smaller birds to our gardens. We also wanted to make sure that in the cold Winter weather, the birds have something tasty to eat. We couldn’t do this in Forest School because of storm Eowyn so instead we stayed safe and warm in Nursery. We used pine cones which we spread with lard using the knifes. This was quite tricky and needed lots of concentration to hold the pine cone still in one hand and the knife in the other! Then we rolled the pine cone in bird seed. We hope when the storm has passed and the bird feeders are hung outside, we will spot some different types of birds enjoying them!
