Year 4 had a fantastic visit to Arbeia Roman Fort yesterday. They had a tour of the fort where they had to pretend to be Roman soldiers. They then became archaeologists where they found many artefacts from Roman times. They also explored the museum, the West Gate and the Commanding Officer’s House. Year 5 visited Jarrow Hall today as part of their history topic on the Anglo Saxons and Vikings. They spent the morning looking around the farm and Anglo Saxon village and enjoyed a spooky retelling of Beowulf to firelight in one of the large Anglo Saxon buildings. After lunch, they took part in 2 workshops - Religion and Burial and Anglo Saxon Battles, and even re-enacted a battle between the Anglo Saxons and Vikings!
