As part of Oral Hygiene Day our Three Year Old Nursery children learnt all about their teeth, what we use our teeth for and why it is important to look after our teeth. We watched a video clip about going to the Dentist and the children shared their own experiences of the Dentist. We practised cleaning our own teeth and know that we need to do this twice a day for 2 minutes each time. We also learnt that some foods are great for strong healthy teeth but too many sugary foods and drinks can cause cavities. We had lots of fun in Nursery exploring different activities linked to our teeth and learnt the Makaton signs for Dentist and Tooth and Toothbrush. The children finished the morning listening to a story called ‘Alan’s Big Scary Teeth’ and a ‘Hey Duggee’ song about brushing your teeth. The children have each brought home a tooth brush and tooth paste (and beautiful white sparkling smiles) so they can now keep up the good work at home! 🦷🪥 🤩
