In our Remembrance Assembly we learned from the Durham Light Infantry Veterans lots of historical information about the 2 World Wars and why we remember them the way we do.
We learned about the significance of the poppy and why we wear them today. We saw and learned about the three different coloured poppies.
We then learned about the use of animals during wars.
Through the use of sound effects we experienced what it was like to be in an air raid shelter during the blitz.
We saw replica bombs and landmines and the metal detectors used to find them. We then went on to learn about the parades and minutes silence.
We would like to thanks the DLI Veterans for sharing their experiences with us.
