This week elections for school councillors have taken place at Lord Blyton. This was the first time that the children in year 1 have had the chance to be school councillors. Last year’s school councillors from Year 1 came to talk to us about the role and then the children decided if they would like to be one. Those who wanted to be one then made a pitch to the rest of the class about why they would make a good school councillor. Then the children took part in a secret ballot, voting for who they wanted to become Year 1’s class councillors. We counted the votes and revealed that Year 1 voted for Shelby and Rumi! Year 4 held their school councillor elections. First, last year's councillors told everyone what the role consisted of last year. Some children who wished to be candidates prepared their campaigns and then presented them to the class. The children voted with a secret ballot, and then the winners were announced.
