Year 3 School Council Elections

In PSHE last week, Year 3 were learning about how we live in a democracy. We shared the ‘British Values’ and specifically discussed ‘democracy’ and the importance of equality, rights or privilege and our nation’s electoral systems. We then held our own elections for school councillors. The children who wanted to do this important job wrote their own campaign speech to tell us why they wanted to be a school councillor and why they wanted to be chosen. After listening to their campaigns, we all took part in voting by each completing a ballot paper which we posted in a special ballot box. We thought about who spoke confidently and who would represent our class well at the meetings with Miss Hall. We chose Emerson and Jaxon. Well done! We are sure that they will be responsible and great members of the team.
